I am a part of a creative studio space in Loudoun County that is for creative, female entrepreneurs. Specifically, those who are in the wedding industry. A Wedding Loft in Leesburg, Virginia, is one of my favorite places to be at and work at. My business has grown so much just by being in this space and being around other women in my industry. It takes a village to raise kids, but it takes a village to support a business as well.

And as you could probably imagine just by the name of the space, we talk weddings…A lot. Especially as we continue to navigate COVID times and eagerly await the return of normal.

One offering that A Wedding Loft does are styled shoots for their members to be a part of, as a photographer this is outstanding and gives me the opportunity to try out new techniques, especially when it comes to lighting.

If I could go back and photograph this Fleetwood Farm Winery styled shoot again, I would do a better job of photographing a handful of images to show what this space looked like sans OCF (off-camera flash). The very last photo grouping has one image that looks black, but next to it is what happens when you add the power of flash x OCF.

Brides shopping for a wedding photographer: Be sure to ask wedding photographers you are inquiring to see if they can share with you a gallery that includes a dark reception space. This is so important so you can see how they handle any lighting conditions on a wedding day; natural light photographers can only get you so far on your wedding day.

During 2019-2020, Fleetwood Farm Winery completed a new part of their venue, a cellar, that they hope to open to the public for private events here in 2021. Since this wasn’t a wedding-styled shoot, A Wedding Loft and Fleetwood Winery opted for a lifestyle shoot that showcased the wine and the space!

Burley Elegance was the theme, a rustic and masculine mood board came to life and it very much fit the space well.
