Today marked my third “big” wedding of 2020! And I honestly felt like I was a new photographer all over again. Instead of a consolidated day, I had another 8-hour day! It felt foreign at first, but I quickly got into the groove.
Right after COVID came, I received an email from this couple’s wedding planner that no matter what, Kayla and Kevin would get married and were ready to pair down in whatever capacity was mandated by the state. I felt so encouraged by this especially after the many rescheduled and re-reschedules that happened.
Minus masks being present, the wedding was nothing short of normal! Everyone had a great time, laughed, loved, and was full of emotion.
I started my day with my usual routine of documenting wedding day details and since this couple opted for a first look, we were able to get all formal portraits done before the ceremony and even MORE bride and groom portraits which were very important to the bride.
“I am wearing a veil just for the photos.”
Me inside: YESSSSSSSS!!!!!
What I love the most about 48 Fields Farm in Leesburg, is there are multiple ways to have your wedding there. And for the first time ever, I took a dress outside of the farmhouse and ventured to the barn for photos and I am so glad I did. I have a couple of weddings there in 2021 and plan to do the same.
Usually, I do not make it a goal for an “epic” dress shot. While I understand this omission is damaging to a wedding photographer, I am more petrified something will happen to the dress before the bride gets in it. I want to keep that liability down unless there is a garment bag and extra hands to help me.
After their ceremony, a special guest made an appearance and mingled with guests during cocktail hour. After the hour was up, the couple enjoyed a lovely meal catered by Smokin’ Willy BBQ, toasts, and a cake cutting. This couple got TWO formal entrances. That was pretty fun.
And then they dance the night away and had a “sparkler” exit at the end with glow sticks.
Congratulations you two. Thank you for allowing me be there to document your big day.
